After the Flags and Bands
Spring 2023
STEUBENVILLE, OH— The Franciscan University Theatre Department senior directed one acts will present After the Flags and Bands to audiences this spring.
After the Flags and Bands, a drama by Allan Williams, is set in Great Britain against the tense backdrop of the first World War—but, instead of focusing on the soldiers at the front, turns its eyes to the women left behind. Annie, Olive, Edith, and Lizzy, each with loved ones fighting in the war, bond with one another despite the hard times until Edith leaves to be a nurse at the front. Both together and apart, the four women must face pain, fear, and death together, holding onto their friendship through the unimaginable sacrifices the war demands of them.
After the Flags and Bands is a tale of perseverance in adversity and the importance of community, filled with humor, sorrow, and plenty of British charm.
Performances will be held Friday, April 28th, Saturday, April 29th, and Sunday, April 30th, in Anathan Theater on the ground floor of Egan Hall. Admission is free.
